IDW Publishing has announced that longtime Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall has been promoted to become the company’s first Chief Creative Officer.  After serving as EIC for Kevin Smith’s web venture, Ryall joined IDW in 2004 as Editor-in-Chief, a role that he will retain along with his new duties as Chief Creative Officer, which will encompass the entire slate of IDW’s publishing efforts across all platforms.

Ryall, who has earned Eisner and Eagle nominations for his own comic book work, has written a number of comics including Groom Lake, Clive Barker’s The Great and Secret Show, Zombies vs. Robots, and IDW’s adaptation of Beowulf.
