Andrew Vachss, author of Batman: The Ultimate Evil and founder of PROTECT: The National Association to Protect Children, and Frank Caruso, Art Director for King Features Syndicate and Executive Producer of the PBS series SeeMore’s Playhouse are collaborating on Heart Transplant, a 100-page hardcover that arrives in October.

But Heart Transplant is much more than the story of one child’s experience with bullying in words and pictures; it also speaks directly to bullied children and their parents, providing a basis not just for discussion but for finding a solution to the problem.  Dr. Joe A Dvoskin, Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Arizona Medical School says “[T]his gripping story gives kids and grownups alike a road map to change, both for individual kids and more importantly, for the school as a community...This book should be required reading in every elementary school in America.”

Heart Transplant also includes an essay by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Zak Mucha designed to help readers deal with the issues raised, and is edited by Dark Horse Founder and President Mike Richardson.
