Mark Protosevich, who wrote the initial draft of the Thor screenplay for Marvel Studios, is writing a screenplay based on Freakshow, a 3-issue miniseries from Ape Entertainment that is launching in January of 2011.  Created and written by David Server and Jackson Lanzing with art by Joe Suitor, Freakshow focuses on five ordinary young people who are turned into super-powered mutants by a horrendous chemical explosion.

According to Variety, Protosevich, who has a number of screenwriting credits including I Am Legend, Poseidon, and The Cell, is interested in moving into the director’s chair and is “eyeing Freakshow as a potential directing vehicle.”

Ape Entertainment is planning on promoting Freakshow with the sale of advance issues at this weeks Comic-Con in San Diego.
