At the Mondo Marvel panel at the San Diego Comic-Con Marvel Comics announced Strange Tales II, which will consist of three giant-sized anthologies with contributions from a wide range of alternative and independent cartoonist who are clearly having a ball presenting their very individual takes on the Marvel superheroes.  The first issue of Strange Tales II is due out in October.

The list of contributors to Strange Tales II reads like a “Who’s Who” of underground, alternative, and Web cartoonists—Dash Shaw, Alex Robinson, Gilbert Hernandez, Dean Haspiel, Paul Hornschemeier, the late Harvey Pekar, Jaime Hernandez, Jeff Lemire, Gene Yang, Frank Santoro, David Heatley, Shannon Wheeler, Terry Moore, Rafael Grampa, Tim Hamilton, Tony Millionaire, Farel Dalrymple, Jhonen Vasquez, Edu Medeiros, Kate Beaton, Nick Gurewitch, and Jillian Tamaki, just to name some of the most prominent.
