Dire Wolf Digital, a new company formed by former principals of Worlds Apart Productions and Sony Online Entertainment Denver, has acquired the rights to produce a TCG and digital games based on Lego Universe, the massively-multiplayer online game due out October 26th.  The physical TCG will launch in 2011.

Dire Wolf Digital plans to create games that emphasize “Anytime, Anyplace” play, which allows customers to play from multiple clients, including Web/social, mobile, and console, all connecting to a single back-end.

Dire Wolf is led by Scott Martins, who founded Worlds Apart and headed Sony Online Entertainment’s Denver studio after Worlds Apart’s acquisition by SOE.  The companies produced the Lord of the Rings Online TCG, Stargate TCG, Legends of Norrath, Star Wars Galaxies TCG, and the Free Realms TCG.   In addition to other principals of Worlds Apart and SOE, at least one Upper Deck alumnus is involved.
