Chloe Moritz, who played Hit Girl in Kick-Ass and the young vampire in the remake of Let Me In and has a key role in Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret, will play the stylish (and decidedly Goth) Emily the Strange in a live-action film based on the Dark Horse Emily the Strange comic.

Created by designer Rob Reger in 1993 and licensed in 35 countries Emily the Strange is the quintessential Goth Girl.  Reger and Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson are producing the Emily the Strange movie for Universal.

This project has been in the works for years at more than one studio (see “Fox Prepping Strange Brew”), but at last it appears that Universal has found the right actress for the role.
