At the New York Comic Con Vertigo EIC Karen Berger announced that celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain will be writing Get Jiro, a new Vertigo series.  Co-written with Joel Rose (La Pacifica), Get Jiro is a send-up of a future food-mad culture in which cities like Los Angeles, where Get Jiro takes place, are run by chef gang bosses who are constantly feuding with other toque-centric mobs in their attempts to secure the services of the best chefs by whatever means necessary.  The eponymous Jiro is a pre-eminent sushi chef with a mind of his own.

Bourdain, who hosts the Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations series on the Travel Channel, is iconoclastic chef who burst on to the scene with his 2000 expose, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.

Other new Vertigo releases unveiled at the NYCC include Delirium’s Party: A Little Endless Storybook by Jill Thompson, a hush-hush new project from 100 Bullets creators Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, and a four-volume Annotated Sandman series with commentary on every issue compiled by Leslie Klinger, author of The Annotated Sherlock Holmes and The Annotated Dracula.
