The Alderac Entertainment Group, publisher of the long-running multiple Origins Award-winning Legend of the Five Rings Collectible Card Game, has announced the 2011 release of Nightfall, a new deck-building game of supernatural horror.  This will be Alderac’s second deck-building game.  AEG has already scored a signal success in the deck-building category with Mike Elliott’s Thunderstone (see “Thunderstone”), which was launched in 2009.

A second Thunderstone expansion, Thunderstone: Doomgate Legion, includes 300 new cards and is slated for a Q4 2010 release.  Doomgate Legion includes four additonal heroes, five more monster groups including the Doomgate Legion, and lots of new village cards including mercenaries.  All 300 cards feature new designs from Jason Engle, who also provided the art for the first two Thunderstone releases.

The Nightfall Base Set will retail for $40 and is slated to debut in 2011.  In the Nightfall game the sun has mysteriously disappeared and the creatures of the darkness such as vampires, werewolves, and ghouls have begun to take over.  Players have to draft their cards wisely, keep their minions under control, and most importantly outwit and outfight their opponents.
