Hermes Press has announced that it will release Milton Caniff’s Male Call The Complete Newspaper Strips: 1942-1946, which reprints the complete run of a strip unavailable for almost thirty years, in May 2011.  Created by Caniff exclusively for military publications during WWII, the daily Male Call strip featured the humorous, and slightly risque, adventures of the beautiful Miss Lace.

Extras include an introductory essay by critic and cartoonist R.C. Harvey, documentary material and unpublished strips. The 156-page hardcover will retail for $39.99.

Hermes is also collecting the comics based on Caniff’s Steve Canyon strip (see “Hermes Gets Steve Canyon”).
