A TV show based on the Marvel MAX comic series Alias is in development for ABC, according to Variety.  The title of the show will be AKA Jessica Jones, due to the previous use of the Alias title (for the Jennifer Garner series).

It’s being written and exec produced by Melissa Rosenberg, a screenwriter who wrote the Twilight films, and worked on Birds of Prey, Dexter, and other TV series.  It’s slated for fall 2011.

The comic series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos ran 28 issues in 2001 to 2004, and has been collected three ways (in four trade paperbacks, one omnibus, and two Ultimate Collections).  Bendis is a consultant on the series.

Marvel TV is also developing a new Hulk TV series (see “Eick and Del Toro on Hulk”).
