The actor playing Spider-Man (or his stunt double) fell into an open pit at the end of the stage near the end of the performance of Spider-Man:  Turn Off the Dark on Monday night, according to the New York Times.  The fall was followed by a woman screaming and sobbing, according to a witness who spoke to the Times.  The performance was halted and the injured actor was taken away in an ambulance “for observation,” according to a statement from the production.

Some equipment fell into the audience when the actor’s fall occurred, according to the report.

The production has been plagued with problems with the stunts, both during previews (see “Spider-Man Left Hanging”) and during rehearsals.  The show is currently in previews and is expected to open in February (see “Spider-Man Pushed Back”).
