Kick-Ass was the second most downloaded movie of 2010, according to TorrentFreak, trailing only Avatar. The blog tallied 11.4 million illegal Kick-Ass downloads using its methodology, which combines info from thousands of BitTorrent trackers. The number of Kick-Ass downloads would have been made it #1 in 2010, when Star Trek was #1 with just under 11 million downloads.
Kick-Ass was something of a cult hit despite its modest box office take, driving sales of the graphic novel on which it was based to #1 in both comic (see “Top 300 Graphic Novels—April 2010”) and book stores (see “Kick-Ass Is #1”).
Avatar was the #1 downloaded movie of 2010, at 16.6 million (and a box office take roughly 25 times that of Kick-Ass). Inception was #3,
