According to the Hollywood Reporter the film based on the DC-Vertigo comic book Hellblazer is back on track.  Video director Francis Lawrence is set to make his feature film debut on the film, which is now called Constantine.  Keanu Reeves will play John Constantine, the film's eponymous hero, who was described in Hollywood pitch meetings as 'Dirty Harry in the world of the occult.'  Writers Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback, and Frank Cappello have all contributed to the screenplay.

One interesting note is the presence of producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on Constantine.  Di Bonaventura reportedly left his position as the #2 man at the Warner Brothers studio in a dispute over the postponement of Batman vs. Superman.  Di Bonaventura wanted the film made and left his position after Batman vs. Superman was shelved in favor of the J.J. Abrams-written Superman film (see 'Superman Gets A Director').
