NBC’s superhero drama The Cape posted solid but not spectacular ratings in a two-hour debut on Sunday. Created by Tom Wheeler, The Cape is the saga of policeman-turned-Batman-like vigilante Vince Faraday, and it includes many standard superhero themes including a super-villain antagonist known as Chess. The Cape managed to post a 2.6/6 rating in the critical 18-49 demographic, which was good enough for second place with male viewers over its two-hour time period. During the 10pm (ET, PT) hour when it didn’t face competition from the “Animation Domination” block on Fox, The Cape actually ranked first in the 18-49 demographic. The Cape moves to its regular Monday night 9pm (ET) time slot starting on January 17th.

Meanwhile Fox’s new animated comedy, Bob’s Burgers, which followed The Simpsons (5.7/14) and preceded Family Guy (4.7/11), scored a 4.5/11 rating among adults 18-49. Although it didn’t quite match the ratings of either The Simpsons or Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers posted the highest rated debut of any series this series with the key adult demo. All the Fox animated shows benefited from the strong lead-in of the Green Bay/Philadelphia play-off game (13.0/34).
