WizKids has announced a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products that will result in the addition of The Lord of the Rings property to their 2011 HeroClix release schedule. The first products in the new Lord of the Rings line will be a LOTR HeroClix Miniatures Game followed by a LOTR HeroClix Strategic Board Game, both of which will be released during the second half of 2011.
 
The LOTR HeroClix Miniatures Game will be sold in two different formats, a campaign style box set and traditional booster packs. The ready-to-play campaign style box set will include everything needed to play right out of the box including minis, new Epic level rules and maps. The booster packs will similar in format to previous HeroClix releases. All twenty of the LOTR HeroClix miniature figures will be compatible with other HeroClix games.
 
The semi-cooperative LOTR Strategic Board Game will be similar in format to other HeroClix board games. It will include HeroClix figures, game board, and several decks of cards. Players get to play as the Nazgul (Dark Riders) working with and against other Nazgul while trying to capture the one ring before it reaches Mount Doom.
