Ratings released by the Cartoon Network for the second week in October show impressive gains in anime programming.  The Cartoon Network's Saturday night Adult Swim block, which features anime programming exclusively, achieved a healthy 49% growth in its target demographic of adults 18-34 when compared with the same time slot last year.  Much of the growth was due to male viewers 18-34, where numbers were up by 85%.  The most impressive fact about the Adult Swim block, however, is the fact that it was number one among 12-24-year-olds among all cable networks during its Saturday night timeslot.

Dragon Ball Z, the leading anime series on American TV, has showed renewed strength since new episodes started to premier in September.  DBZ is doing very well in the 6:30 pm slot on the Monday-Thursday Toonami block, ranking among the top 50 programs on ad-supported cable on a regular basis.  The ratings for the DBZ episode aired on Thursday, October 10 reached #25 on the Top 50 chart with a very respectable 2,344,000 homes and a solid 2.9 rating (truly impressive for continuing programming on cable).
