U.K. publisher AAM/Markosia has announced Kate & William: A Very Public Love Story, a graphic novel that should be out in April in plenty of time for the April 29th Royal Nuptials. Rich (“Lying in the Gutters”) Johnston has penned the Kate & William graphic novel, which features a unique structure. The front half of the book, which is drawn by Mike Collins (Doctor Who), tells Kate’s story in the style of a 1970s girls comic book, while the back half, drawn by Gary Erskine (Dan Dare), follows William from the playing fields of Eton to Sandhurst and the RAF narrating his story in the headline-filled, action-heavy manner of a typical boys comic.

The two stories meet in the middle in the Royal Wedding section, which presents a fictional look at the wedding itself and the royal kiss that seals the deal.

While Kate & William is far from typical comic book fodder, it is the kind of book that can bring new customers into stores. As the Royal Wedding approaches anything remotely connected with the event will garner some publicity, and items such as the Kate & William: A Very Public Love Story graphic novel will be sought after as souvenirs by those on both sides of the Atlantic who breathlessly follow events like the Royal Wedding.
