The international flavor of Cars 2, clearly evident in the recently released extended trailer (see “New Cars 2 Trailer”), is especially pronounced in a new series of World Grand Prix Event posters for the Disney/Pixar film debuting on June 24th. The posters ape the stylish travel posters of the 1920s and 30s with the anthropomorphic motor vehicles pictured in spectacular settings highlighted by cool deco lettering. Lighting McQueen is along way from Radiator Springs in the first poster, which celebrates the Tokyo Grand Prix and features Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji.

The second poster features a new Italian character, a formula one-type racer with close set eyes that indicate he might not exactly be a “good guy.”  Once again the lead car is bursting out of the frame against a spectacular background, in this case a seaside race course on a highway perched over the ocean and supported by dozens of geometric deco arches.

Poster #3 is a night time affair set against background of Parisian landmarks including the Arc de Triumph, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower—geographically impossible of course, but evocative nonetheless.

The fourth poster features the new Aston Martin/James Bond character against a London backdrop that includes Big Ben, Saint Pauls, and a couple of searchlights left over from the Blitz.
