This official promo for the new Warner Premiere/DC Comics/Warner Animation adaptation of Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli’s Batman: Year One demonstrates how intent the filmmakers are on recreating the look of the influential graphic novel. Note how often during this ten-minute promo the filmmakers use comic panels for inspiration.  This promo piece will undoubtedly find its way on to the DVD as an extra.

 

Given that the Batman animated features have been among the most successful of the DC-based direct-to-DVD movies, the prospects for Batman: Year One are good, especially since it has a stellar vocal cast including Ben McKenzie as Batman, Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as Lt. James Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Katee Sackhoff as Detective Sarah Essen.
