Mayfair Games will release Treefrog Games’ Ankh-Morpork, based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, in the U.S. Ankh-Morpork, designed by Martin Wallace, will be Treefrog’s Essen release this fall. The two- to four-player game is simple enough for non-gamers, but offers enough for more experienced players as well.

Lord Vetinari is gone, and each player is given a secret personality with specific requirements to win the game. Each player has a set of minions, and some building pieces. Players must follow the instructions on cards which represent characters and buildings from the books. The game ends when a player achieves his/her victory condition, or when the deck of cards runs out, in which case points are calculated based on wealth and number of minions on the boards (unless a player has been assigned the personality of Sam Vimes, who wins when no-one else does by the time the cards run out).

Z-Man Games has also announced a game based on Discworld for 2011: Guards! Guards! (see “Guards! Guards! A Discworld Board Game”).
