CrossGen Plans 'Traveler' Trade Paperback Editions

Smaller Size, Bigger Value

After repositioning Forge and Edge, its 'Compendia' anthologies, into 192-page $7.95 trade paperbacks, CrossGen plans to repackage two comic series into similar packages called 'Traveler Editions' -- 192 full color pages for $9.95.  According to VP-Sales and Marketing Chris Oarr, the first title to get the treatment will be Meridian, which was chosen because although it's one of CrossGen's weaker titles in the direct market, sells well to libraries and has a strong female audience.  The Traveler Edition, so-named because it's compact size makes it travel well ('portable and affordable,' according to Oarr), is $8 cheaper than the previous Meridian trade paperback packages, and will present consumers with a far more compelling value proposition.  Four Meridian Traveller Editions are planned for 2003, in March, June, September, and December.  Scion will follow, with Traveller editions in April in July.
