Chevrolet has signed on as the vehicle sponsor of New York Comic Con, which has now sold out its exhibit space. Chevrolet will use the convention as the venue where it will debut the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. The Chevy marketing maven explained why. “We are trying to market Sonic to early adopters—those who are the first to try all-things-new,” William Fleck, Northeast regional marketing manager for Chevrolet said. “They are immersed in pop culture, can spot trends early, and have the power to transform a simple trend into a lifestyle. NYCC is the perfect place for us to reach that audience. “
Chevrolet will exhibit four special-edition, illustrated Sonics, a gigantic, gas-filled flying Sonic, and an artist will be illustrating a fifth Sonic during the show.
Reed has announced that the exhibit floor has sold out, with over 700 exhibitors, 400 artists, and an expanded autographic area. Special exhibit areas will include the Cultyard Pavilion, with art, design, collectible toys, pop-tech, and fashion; and the Star Wars Zip Code.
New York Comic Con is occupying the entire 470,000 square feet of space in the Javits Center. The show will preview on Thursday, October 13th, and then offer access to the public for the full three day weekend of October 14-16.
