Dynamite Entertainment has announced today that veteran comic book and screenwriter Joe Harris is writing a six-issue Vampirella vs. Dracula series that will debut in January.  This new series will take as its starting point Alan Moore and Gary Franks’ sublimely creepy short story “The New European,” which was originally published by Harris Publications in Vampirella vs. Dracula: The Centennial.  Dynamite, which acquired the rights to the Harris properties in March of 2010, will publish the first issue of Joe Harris’ Vampirella vs. Dracula in January of 2012.

This will be Harris’ second Vampirella series for Dynamite.  After Harris turned in the script for Vampirella and the Scarlet Legion, Dynamite’s Nick Barrucci picked him to write the sequel story to Alan Moore’s “The New European.”  Moore and Franks’ classic tale will be included the first issue of the new Vampirella vs. Dracula, but there will be no extra cost for consumers who will receive a 48-page comic for the price of a standard 32-page issue.  Joseph Michael Linsner is providing the cover for Vampirella vs. Dracula #1.
