Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope, the Morgan Spurlock documentary about Comic-Con (see “Comic-Con Gets Super Sized”), will open in April in a simultaneous theatrical and video on demand release.  The theatrical release includes both traditional theaters in New York and Los Angeles and a tour, which begins in Atlanta on April 5th.  The tour events are designed to give the flavor of a Comic-Con experience, with exhibitor booths, animator portfolio reviews, costumes and panels.  Ten cities are scheduled, with more to come.
In addition to the Academy Award-nominated Spurlock, the film also boasts the involvement of Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, and Ain’t It Cool News’ Harry Knowles, and in an interesting twist, it’s one of the first films to be distributed by licensed merchandise giant NECA (see “NECA, Wrekin Hill Get Comic-Con Documentary”).
