Dreamworks Animation has set the debut of the computer-animated Mr. Peabody and Sherman feature film for March 14, 2014. Modern Family star Ty Burrell will provide the voice of the ultra-intelligent canine hero, while Max Charles, who plays the young Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man, will handle the vocal chores for Sherman, Peabody’s pet boy.

The movie is based on the popular time-traveling segments from Jay Ward’s classic Rocky and Bullwinkle TV series (see “Mr. Peabody And Sherman CGI Feature”).  According to Variety the action in the film unfolds after Sherman has put the past in a state of chaos thanks to an unauthorized trip in the time machine. As historical events threaten to spiral out of control it’s up to Mr. Peabody to save the day.
