Four of Capcom’s most popular video game properties will be combined together in a new deck-building style card game from Cryptozoic Entertainment.  The currently untitled game is slated for release in Fall, 2012.

The game will be non-collectible, and playable out of the box. It will include characters and themes from Street Fighter, Final Fight, Rival Schools, and Darkstalkers.  Two to five players will be able to play their favorite characters from all four properties.

Cory Jones, president of Cryptozoic, described his enthusiasm for the project in a press release: “Capcom is such a powerhouse in the video game world, with great stories and exciting characters, that it just makes sense to expand the universe into a card game, giving fans another way to connect.  There’s more than enough material within each brand alone to create a great gaming experience, but Street Fighter, Final Fight, Rival Schools, and Darkstalkers all in one game is really just mind-blowingly fun.”

The combination of multiple videogame characters in a single game is not new; in fact, Capcom properties, including Street Fighter, were part of the UFS CCG, originally from Sabretooth and then from Fantasy Flight Games, which cancelled the line (see “FFG Cancels ‘UFS’”), then sold it to Jasco (see “Jasco Games Acquires ‘UFS CCG’”).  The deck-building format, which lowers the cost to play for consumers, removes the barriers that FFG described as its reason for dropping UFS.
