DC Entertainment has announced a two-pronged initiative targeting young readers with both a print magazine and a new digital app based on the DC Nation programming block on the Cartoon Network (see "DC Nation Programming Block Set").  The 64-page DC Nation Super Spectacular magazine will launch in May with a cover price of $4.99. It will be sold in both comic shops and newsstands, and it will feature comics based on the popular DC Nation cartoon series.  The magazine will complement the newly-launched DC Nation App, which will provide thousands of pages of age-appropriate comics for kids, much of it for free, including the first issues of Batman Adventures #1, Superman Adventures #1, and Tiny Titans #1.

The new DC Nation Magazine, which is being sponsored by the upcoming LEGO Batman 2: Super Heroes game from Warner Bros. Interactive, will include comics based on the Young Justice and Green Lantern cartoon series as well as special features such as the DC Nation Secret Files and the DC Nation Sneak Peek, which should be of great interest to viewers of the popular Cartoon Network programming block, which has so far boosted Cartoon Network ratings 32% among boys 6 to 11 since it went on the air in March.

The DC Nation Secret Files and the DC Nation Sneak Peek, which give readers an advance look at what is happening in their favorite DC Nation show as well as previews of upcoming series like the new Beware the Batman series (see "'Beware the Batman'"), will also be available via the DC Nation app along with a growing list of digital versions of DC Comics all-ages comics, which will be available to download for $.99 each.
