Director J.J. Abrams has wrapped shooting on the sequel to his highly successful reboot of the Star Trek movie series.  Shooting began on January 12th and wrapped May 8th on schedule in less than four months.  Now Abrams gets to supervise a year’s worth of post-production work on the effects-heavy science fiction blockbuster.  The still untitled Star Trek film is due in theaters on May 17th, 2013.  Abrams and crew hope to have footage to show at Comic-Con, and a teaser trailer will likely start running at some point this summer.

To commemorate the end of shooting Zachary Quinto, who stars as Mister Spock, tweeted a photo of his empty stage chair.  The image definitely works as a metaphor for the highly classified narrative of the film as comparatively little concerning the movie’s plot has leaked out.
