Sony has released an extended one-minute TV spot for Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man that includes some great new footage.  Webb’s reboot of the most successful comic book movie franchise of them all opens July 3rd.  It will be the first superhero film to open in the wake of The Avengers’ mega-success and Sony is worried that even a solid box office performance could appear weak when judged against the massive haul that The Avengers amassed or even when compared with highly successful films of the original Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi.  With the debut of the film now just a month away, Sony is continuing to release clips from the movie including viral videos of Dr. Curt Connors and the movie’s Australian trailer, which also included quite a bit of new footage (see "'TDKR,' 'Spider-Man' Videos").

Two stills from the film have also emerged this week.  One is a lovely shot of the talented Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy.  Frankly from the footage released so far it appears that both Stone and Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker, have acquitted themselves very well.  Combine the talented cast and the classic Spidey origin story, which Webb is tweaking with additional information about Peter Parker’s parents, and it is hard to see how this film could be a failure.

The other still, which was tweeted by director Marc Webb, shows Spidey emerging from the sewers via an open manhole cover. Is this a homage to the TMNT?
