According to Jeph Loeb, who heads Marvel’s television unit, Marvel is prepping two new cartoon series the previously announced Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (see "'Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.' Toon"), and a new series, Avengers Assemble, that will mirror both the cast and the tone of Joss Whedon’s smash hit.  The fate of the current Marvel Avengers cartoon, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes remains somewhat uncertain as early reports of its demise have not yet been confirmed.

Still in an interview with TV Guide, Loeb wasn’t talking about Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, he was describing the new, still-in-development Avengers Assemble, which has the same title as the comic book series that Marvel published to take advantage of the interest in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers (see "Bendis & Bagley on 'Avengers Assemble'").

Loeb characterized the new show as follows: "The Avengers movie has been the ambassador to the world for the Marvel Universe, so we want a show that the feel and the tone and the incredible adventures like that movie.  So the next project we are working on is Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, which will be a brand new and really extraordinary looking animated series dealing with the Avengers in that same world."

Loeb is confident that under Eric Radomski, who is charge of production for all the Marvel animated series, the two new series slated for 2013 will feature the same cutting edge combination of 2D and 3D animation that has put The Ultimate Spider-Man series at the forefront of TV animated adventure shows.
