Hasbro has announced that it has extended its license for Star Wars toys and games by ten years, to run through 2018. Under the terms of the agreement, Hasbro's minimum payment will be reduced by $85 million (to $505 million), even though the term is being extended dramatically. Since Hasbro has already paid $470 million to Lucasfilms under its current license, it will owe only a minimum of an additional $35 million through 2018. Although Hasbro, through its Wizards of the Coast subsidiary, has divested itself of the Star Wars fan club and related magazine (see 'WotC Spins Off Magazines, Star Wars Fan Club'), it is still producing the Star Wars CCG and RPG through the division, as well as action figures and vehicles through Hasbro.
