The J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel will be released in IMAX 3D, the company announced Wednesday.  Key big action set pieces in the film were shot with high-resolution IMAX cameras, which means that the images will fill the entire IMAX screen for those sequences.  Shooting recently wrapped on the film (see "'Star Trek 2' Shooting Wraps") and it’s currently in post-production.  The film will be digitally remastered for IMAX suing IMAX DMR technology.  The release date is May 17, 2013.
Images of new uniforms for the film were recently revealed (see "Photo Reveals New 'Star Trek' Uniforms").
