A 53-year-old Twilight fan, known to fellow devotees of Stephanie Meyers’ novels as Gisella, was struck by a car and killed on Wednesday as she crossed Harbor Drive on her route back to the Convention Center where she had been waiting in line to secure a spot at the Twilight panel, which will be held on Thursday.  The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
Police reports indicate that she was running across Harbor Drive at about 9:20 in the morning when she saw an oncoming car.  Unfortunately she tripped and fell into the car’s path.  She was returning to the Convention Center in order to reclaim her place in line.  According to Deadline, the woman had been in the line for the Twilight panel since Sunday.  The area where Twilight fans have set up their tents and sleeping bags outside the Convention Center has been dubbed "Camp Twilight."
 
Lionsgate, the studio releasing the final Twilight film, issued a statement expressing the sadness "of the entire Twilight community" and promised that the victim would be respectfully remembered" at the Twilight panel in Hall H on Thursday.
