Comic-Con News:  BOOM! Studios outlined an ambitious list of new initiatives at its well-attended panel at SDCC. Among the more interesting new offerings were the intense science fiction saga The Hypernaturals by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Andres Guinaldo set in a computer-controlled future, Higher Earth by Sam Humphries, which takes place in a universe where 100 parallel Earths exist, and Extermination by Si Spurrier and Jeffrey Edwards, a post alien invasion saga in which a Batman-like vigilante has to join forces with a terrestrial Dr. Doom-like villain in order to fend off the invaders.

Steed and Mrs. Peel
BOOM! is also adding some more licensed comics including an "Avengers" series featuring the protagonists of the classic 1960s British TV series that will be written by Eisner Award-winner Mark Waid and will be titled, Steed and Mrs. Peel.  BOOM! is also adding another Planet of the Apes comic book series, Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm, which will feature covers by Alex Ross.

BOOM! is also expanding its robust Kaboom! kids imprint with The Bravest Warriors, a new series about high school kids living in outer space by Pendleton Ward, creator of the brilliant Adventure Time with Finn and Jake series on the Cartoon Network as well as BOOM!'s Adventure Time comic.  Kaboom’s impressive Peanuts series will continue with a full-length graphic novel, Peanuts in Tokyo, which is due out this October.
