Legendary Entertainment has a pretty full slate, but in spite of the recent defection of director Sam Raimi, who had been attached to direct a World of Warcraft movie since 2009 (see "'Spider-Man' Helmer to Direct 'Warcraft'"), the potent production company hasn’t given up on bringing the hugely successful MMORPG to the big screen.  According to Variety, Legendary has hired Charles Levitt to pen yet another version of the script for the big-budget fantasy movie project.

Levitt wrote another fantasy saga, The Seventh Son, which stars Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, and Ben Barnes, and is slated to debut on October 18th, 2013, for Legendary.

Legendary, which has expanded into comics with a publishing arm headed by Bob Schreck, has a bunch of movie tentpoles in development including The Hangover, Part 3, Jack the Giant Killer, Pacific Rim, 300: Battle of Artemisia, Seventh Son, as well as a Godzilla movie, so it appears that, as desirable as a World of Warcraft movie might be, realistically it is still at least 2-3 years away.
