AMC has unveiled its photo poster for Season 3 of the network’s ratings record-setting adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead.  The powerful image shows Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) standing atop an overturned bus firing a pistol outside the West Georgia Correctional Facility, the "prison" that will be the central location for much of the action in Season 3 of the popular zombie saga.  It is not clear from the image who Rick is firing at, but the poster indicates that it could either be a zombie or perhaps someone from another group that has survived the holocaust.

The "slogan" for Season 3 included on the poster states, "Fight the Dead.  Fear the Living," a reference to the struggles ahead in the new season with another band of survivors led by the authoritarian autocrat known as "The Governor."  It now appears that in Season 3 the living will provide as much danger to Rick and his band of survivors as the zombies.

The first 8 episodes of Season 3 of The Walking Dead will be shown on consecutive Sunday nights starting with the series debut on October 14th.  The remaining eight installments of the 16-episode third season will be broadcast starting in February of 2013.  At Comic-Con AMC released an "art" poster for Season 3 designed by Greg Capullo (see "Greg Capullo's 'Walking Dead' Season 3 Poster").
