When Valiant Entertainment, the publisher that made a splash in the early ’90s with such titles as Archer & Armstrong and Turok, returned earlier this year, the company chose X-O Manowar as the first title to bring back (see "Valiant Announces First Book").  Fittingly, Valiant’s first collected volume of the new era is X-O Manowar Vol. 1: By the Sword TPB (112 pgs.), which reprints the first four issues of the series.

Written by New York Times best-selling author Robert Venditti (The Surrogates), with visuals by Eisner Award-winning artist Cary Nord (Conan), X-O Manowar Vol. 1 debuts in comic shops December 5th at a special introductory price of $9.99.  The book chronicles the adventures of warrior Aric of Dacia, who steals a sentient suit of indestructible armor from a brutal race of alien colonizers known as The Vine.
