Fantasy Flight Games has announced the early 2013 release of The City, an expansion for the classic Talisman board game.  The City features a supplementary game board that fits against the main Talisman board and is entered through the "City" space.  The City also adds six new playable characters, three alternative endings, its own deck of city-themed adventure cards, and a bunch of shops to provide interesting items for the game’s quests. 
 

Players in this newly urbanized version of Talisman can fill their coffers by grabbing Wanted Posters from the City Gate and hunting down the miscreants for the rewards offered.  The City’s alternate endings each reflect the influence of three powerful organizations, the Assassins’ Guild, the Merchants’ Guild, and the Thieves’ Guild.

 

The City presents its own dangers and they are represented in the expansion’s deck of adventure cards, which provide examples of the dangers, threats, and opportunities of urban life in the world of Talisman.  The City is not a stand-alone game, a copy of the Talisman board game is required to play.
