NYCC News: Legendary Comics announced new projects for 2013 with film director Guillermo Del Toro and writer Grant Morrison. The Pacific Rim graphic novel, which is being written by the film’s writer Travis Beachum (Clash of the Titans), will function as a prequel to Del Toro’s Pacific Rim film, which is slated to debut on July 12th, 2013.  Meanwhile Grant Morrison’s Annihilator is a behind-the-scenes Hollywood saga that will also debut in 2013.

The Pacific Rim graphic novel will provides loads of useful information for those who are intending to see the film, which features legions of kaiju monsters rising from the sea to menace civilization as we know it.  Beachum’s Pacific Rim graphic novel is written in three distinct parts and will cover the history of the movie’s world from the first kaiju attack right up to just before the events in the film begin.

Morrison’s Annihilator is the story of a wigged-out screenwriter who is desperately trying to save his career by writing the script for a big studio science fiction tentpole film entitled Annihilator.  This genre-mixing saga gets a little mystical and a lot  more exciting when the fictional sci-fi rebel anti-hero of the film suddenly shows up in LA.
