Z-Man Games has announced that it will be publishing the English version of Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island, a new game by Ignacy Trzewiczek and Portal Games.  Trzewiczek’s game is a great example of a sophisticated cooperative board game that forces players to deliberate and discuss every move.  Z-Man plans to release its English version of Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island in North America in early 2013.

Players have three major options for disposing their time and resources, exploration, shelter building, or tool creation.  Obviously to survive on the island all three will be necessary, but as is the case in life, here again it is a matter of timing and priorities.  The game reacts differently depending on the actions that players take.  Each "option" has its own deck of cards and most of the event cards include a second (often negative) action on them.  Eventually players have to draw from a deck of discarded "event" cards and face the consequences of the second action on the card.  It’s the game’s way of having a player’s actions come back to haunt them in the future.
