VIZ Gets 'Uglydolls'
Graphic Novels Next Summer

Viz Media has signed a deal with Pretty Ugly to produce a series of graphic novels based on the popular Uglydoll line of plush toys. The first book, entitled Goin’ Places, will be released next summer under the VIZ Kids imprint with a rating of "A"” for all ages.
Uglydolls are the creation of David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim. The first character, Wage, was designed in 2001, followed by Babo, OX, Ice-Bat, and others. These curious creatures exist in a world where "ugly just means unique and different, and celebrating who you are inside and out is the new beautiful."
Uglydolls have become a licensing powerhouse (see "'Uglydolls' Licensing Proliferates"), but this will be the first Uglydoll comic license.
