The new HD trailer for The Smurfs 2 provides the backbone of a narrative with Gargamel creating a couple of "naughties" who make it their mission to turn Smurfette into a "Naughty."  From the looks of the trailer they succeed, though perhaps not permanently.  The first live-action/animated hybrid Smurfs movie was a big hit with kids, and its success helped boost The Smurfs to the #3 spot on the chart of "Kids & Tweens Graphic Novel Properties" in the last issue of the ICv2 Guide (see "Top Ten Kids & Tweens GN Properties: Summer 2012").

 

Directed by Raja Gosnell, The Smurfs 2 is set to debut on July 31st, 2013 with a cast that includes Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci (Vexi) and pop star Katy Perry providing the voice for Smurfette.
