The Alderac Entertainment Group has announced the summer 2013 re-release of Hisashi Hayashi’s Trains, which was a surprise Essen hit that got a limited release here last year in a dual language Japanese/English edition.  Just as in the original game, in the new AEG English-language only Second Edition game Trains players manage private railway companies struggling for supremacy in the Japan.  The winner in the dog-eat-dog struggle for market supremacy gets the title “King of the Railways.”

With over 500 cards Trains manages to combine elements of a deck-building game with the traditional map and economic objectives of a board game.  In addition to the double-sided game board and more than 500 cards, the second edition game will include a rulebook, 84 wooden tokens, and 30 wooden station markers.
