Battlefront Miniatures will take over publishing and distributing the Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare miniatures games from Fantasy Flight Games on June 1st, the companies announced.  FFG CEO Christian Petersen explained it as a matter of fit.  "The last year…, as FFG experienced phenomenal growth across many of our publishing categories, it became clear that [Dust creator] Paolo [Parente] and the Dust games would be better served by a partner who specializes in the unique business of miniature games," he said.  Fantasy Flight remains in the miniatures business with the Star Wars X-Wing CMG.

Parente described the split as "amicable."

Battlefront is the maker of the Flames of War military miniatures line; this will be the first time it distributes a product other than its own.

Fantasy Flight will continue to distribute new Dust products until June 1, and sell its inventory until it is depleted.  FFG will support organized play through Season 1 Game Night Kits and regional organized play events in May and June; Battlefront will take over OP on July 1st.

Back in 2008, FFG planned to distribute the Dust games as part of its relationship with Rackham (see "'Dust Tactics Miniature Game'").  When Rackham ceased operations, the then upcoming lines were first announced as going through Alderac in March, 2010 (see "AEG Gets 'Dust'").  By July, the decision was made that FFG should distribute the lines (see "'Dust' Games to FFG"), where they’ve remained until now.
