NBM Publishing has announced the conclusion to writer Kate Worley and artist Reed Waller's long-running Omaha the Cat Dancer.  Slated for a July release in the Direct Market and September for the general trade market, The Complete Omaha the Cat Dancer, Volume 8 will be a 160-page trade paperback in B&W, and retail for $15.99.

Debuting in 1978 in Waller's Vootie fanzine, Omaha received her own strip shortly thereafter with Kitchen Sink Press.  Between 1981 and 1984, Waller published various Omaha strips until he began collaborating with Worley in 1986 on Omaha the Cat Dancer.  After Worley joined as the author, the team released 20 issues through three different publishers until 1994.  Although Kitchen Sink and Fantagraphics collected six volumes of the series, NBM has published seven under its Amerotica imprint, two of which are also available digitally.  Omaha the Cat Dancer won the Best Black and White Series and Best Writer Eisner Awards in 1991, and received multiple nominations previously in 1989.

While NBM had previously serialized the final chapter in its Sizzle Magazine, the tragic death of Worley in 2004 stalled additional installments.  Working from a detailed outline completed by Worley, her husband James Vance, the Eisner Award winning author of Kings of Disguise, has united with Waller to complete Omaha the Cat Dancer, Volume 8.  NBM plans to unveil the title at San Diego Comic Con where Waller will join the publisher to celebrate its release.

ICv2 had previously announced Vance's connection to the series back in 2005 (see "NBM Brings Back 'Omaha the Cat Dancer'").
