Starz has given a 16-episode season order to Outlander, by Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ron Moore, according to Deadline. The seven (soon to be eight) book Outlander property, based on the Diana Gabaldon book series, is the story of a World War II nurse who goes back in time to 18th century Scotland. The series has sold over 20 million copies.
Del Rey published a graphic novel based on Outlander a few years back (see "Del Rey to Publish 'Outlander' Graphic Novel") to good response (see "'Scott Pilgrim's' Hegemony Continues"), at least in the book market. Production is slated to begin in Scotland in October, according to the report.
