Fantasy Flight Games intends to release a fourth expansion for its version of the classic sci-fi board game Cosmic Encounter.  The Cosmic Storm expansion adds new alien races and a new "space station" mechanic to the game.  The release is expected to be in the third quarter of this year.

Cosmic Storm features 25 new alien powers for the game, including a thieving "Swindler" and the resilient "Bulwark," along with their associated "Flares."  In addition, a deck of ten "Space Station" cards and space station pawns can be used to grant additional random abilities to the players.  A new game victory condition is added to the game, based on a player’s ability to conquer worlds with space stations attached.

The new expansion will be compatible with all earlier Fantasy Flight Cosmic Encounter expansions, and requires the basic game to play.  The suggested retail price will be $24.95.

Cosmic Encounter was originally published by Eon Products in 1977.  Fantasy Flight licensed the rights to produce its own version, which was released in 2008, (see "FFG to Revamp Future Pastimes/Eon Games").
