Comic-Con News: At the X-Men panel Marvel Comics announced that Nightcrawler, one of the most beloved X-Men of all time who was killed in the 2010 X-Men crossover event Second Coming, will return to the realm of the living in the pages of Amazing X-Men, a new ongoing series written by Jason Aaron and drawn by Ed McGuinness that debuts in November.
Created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum in Giant Size X-Men #1 in May of 1975 as a blue-skinned, two-toed, teleporting X-Man with a prehensile tail, Nightcrawler was especially close to Wolverine and with his strong faith often served as a sort of moral center of gravity for the X-Men.
In Amazing X-Men #1 Nightcrawler’s call for help from the afterlife causes Wolverine to form a team including Beast, Storm, Iceman, Northstar, and Firestar that embarks on a quest for Nightcrawler that will likely have to battle Nightcrawler’s demonic father Azazel. The "Quest for Nightcrawler" will be the first story arc in the new Amazing X-Men series.
