Diamond Comic Distributors has revealed some details about their two Walking Dead game exclusives, now scheduled to release in late September.  Both games will be produced by USAopoly in partnership with Skybound, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s imprint at Image Comics.  Skybound and Diamond/Alliance will have the exclusive distribution rights to both MONOPOLY: The Walking Dead Survival Edition and RISK: The Walking Dead Survival Edition.

In MONOPOLY: The Walking Dead Survival Mission, players compete in Monopoly style to collect and fortify the real estate and resources they need to survive in a post-zombie-apocalypse world.  Landmarks from the series are included, and the player tokens represent iconic items from the comic.  Money is replaced by supplies such as food, ammo, and fuel, and the familiar houses and hotels are transformed into guard towers and walls.

RISK: The Walking Dead Survival Edition uses a map of the Southeastern United States, divided into 32 territories that the players compete for control over.  Players must not only contend with other survivors for resources, but must also defend against unending waves of undead "walkers."  A deck of "supply cards" adds additional flavor and strategy to the game.

The two Walking Dead games and Diamond’s exclusive arrangement with USAopoly and Skybound were originally announced at Toy Fair in New York last February.  For details, see "Diamond & Alliance Have 'Monopoly: The Walking Dead Survival Edition’ Exclusive."

The Walking Dead continues to be a huge hit with fans, earning a place at the top of ICv2’s "Top 10 Genre Properties" list for Spring 2013 (see "Top 10 Genre Properties--Spring 2013").
