Fantasy Flight Games has announced the upcoming release of Warhammer: Diskwars (MSRP $39.95), a fast-paced, tactical battle game for 2-4 players that can be played in an hour or less.  Based on the original Diskwars game designed by Christian T. Petersen and Tom Jolly, the new Warhammer: Diskwars has been updated to its new setting in the Warhammer world and features flexible rules for hero-centric army building--and while the original Diskwars game was a CCG-like affair with blind buys, the new Warhammer: Diskwars core set includes everything needed to play the game.

At the heart of the Warhammer: Diskwars game are its disks.  Each disk represents a hero or a unit from across the Old World and comes complete with its own combat statistics, traits, and other special abilities.  One of the most interesting aspects of the game is the way in which players move their disks around the battlefield.  To move a disk a player simply flips it end-over-end.  Each movement creates a path and the disk interacts with the terrain and the other disks in its path.  When a disk lands on another disk, the top disk "pins" the one underneath.  Pinned disks cannot move, but at the end of the turn overlapping disks must fight each other.
